Research and Innovation Lead - Israel
ART MEDICAL is a well-funded medical startup transforming ICU care through advanced technology and innovation. Our smART+™ platform is an intelligent, sensor-based solution that optimizes nutrition delivery while reducing the risks of ventilator-associated pneumonia and malnutrition. Supported by clinical trials, we are setting a new standard in critical care by achieving nearly 100% feeding efficiency and reducing ICU stays by an average of 3.3 days.
We are seeking a Research and Innovation Lead to join our multidisciplinary R&D team, developing advanced medical devices for enteral feeding and nutritional management in intensive care settings.
This role is pivotal in bridging scientific research and engineering practice, driving early-stage initiatives, feasibility studies, and science-driven product development. The ideal candidate combines strong experimental skills, scientific thinking, and a passion for translating research into impactful clinical solutions.

Role & Responsibilities
- Lead early-stage scientific research and feasibility initiatives for new product concepts and improvements.
- Design and execute lab-based experiments and exploratory studies to validate hypotheses and inform system design. This includes all stages from concept to setups to execution.
- Apply rigorous scientific methodologies, including experimental design, statistical analysis, and interpretation of results.
- Collaborate with internal R&D teams (software, hardware, mechanical, systems, and testing) to integrate scientific insights into development.
- Engage with external experts and consultants in fields such as biology, chemistry, and materials science.
- Stay updated with latest publications and studies in the relevant fields of the company products.
- Communicate scientific findings clearly to both technical teams and clinical stakeholders, including the company’s clinical advisory board.
- Contribute to long-term innovation strategy and identification of novel product opportunities.
Requirements
- M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Physics, Biomedical Engineering, or a related scientific/engineering field.
- At least 5 years of experience in similar roles within the medical device industry, preferably involving multidisciplinary systems.
- Hands-on experience in experimental work and laboratory research.
- Proficiency in scientific programming and data analysis tools.
- Strong foundation in scientific reasoning, problem-solving, and evidence-based thinking.
- Familiarity with physiological systems, bio-signals, or fluid mechanics – an advantage.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken); Hebrew – an advantage.
